The Central British Columbia Railroad Preservation and Museum Society was founded by a group of railway employees and enthusiasts who wanted to preserve the history of railroading in Prince George and northern British Columbia. The society was incorporated on March 22, 1983. The first artifact was the PGE 6001 Russell snowplow.
