Starting in 1983, the Missoula Chapter of the Society of American Foresters (SAF) has built and operated the Montana Historic Equipment Area, (Formerly known as the Forestry Interpretive Area) that is located on the grounds of the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula. The goal of the Montana Historic Equipment Area, is to preserve, display and research the history of forestry and timber harvesting equipment in Western Montana. Click on the pictures.
